Dorothy Jane Ailes Owens

June 7, 1933 — June 18, 2022

Dorothy Jane Ailes Owens, 89, of Francesville, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 18.

She was born on June 7, 1933, in Medaryville, to the late Marion and Milda (Foust) Poisel. Dorothy attended Wheatfield High School. In 1971, she received a GED from West Central High School in Francesville. Dorothy was a proud and devoted homemaker. She was a member of the Francesville First Christian Church.   

On Oct. 27, 1951, Dorothy married Carl D. Ailes in Medaryville. They had two daughters, Micki and Laura, whom they raised in the Medaryville Christian Church.  Dorothy and Carl lived many different places during Carl’s 22 years in the U.S. Army and enjoyed traveling far and wide after he retired from the service. Carl passed away on Feb. 8, 1993.

On June 27, 1998, Dorothy married Richard Owens.  He was good to Dorothy and her girls. Sadly, he passed away on Dec. 26, 2010.

Dorothy took pride in keeping a clean and tidy home.  She especially enjoyed feeding the birds and observing all of God’s creation. She loved her family and Jesus with all of her heart. Dorothy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.  

She is survived by her daughter Milda “Micki” Clouse of Francesville; son-in-law Gene Hauptli of Indianapolis; grandson Joshua Boersma of Doylestown, Ohio; granddaughters: Staci [Marty] Noblett of Wadsworth, Ohio, Marcia Johnson of Francesville and Danielle Hauptli of Indianapolis; six great-grandchildren; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Marion and Milda (Foust) Poisel; first husband Carl D. Ailes; second husband Richard Owens; daughter Laura Hauptli; son-in-law Richard Clouse; grandson Nicholas Hauptli; brothers: Edwin Poisel, Walter Poisel, Elmer Poisel and Bill Poisel; sisters: Zelda Tetzloff, Alladene Archer and Betty Ailes.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Thursday, June 23 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 23 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville with Pastor James Ketchen officiating.

Burial took place at White Post Cemetery in Medaryville.
