Dorothy A. “Dot” Kruger

Aug. 4, 1933 — April 12, 2020

Dorothy A. “Dot” Kruger, 86, of Ft. Wayne, formerly of Lafayette, went home to be with the Lord at 3:43 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 12. She passed away peacefully at The Hearth at Sycamore Village in Ft. Wayne. 

Dorothy was born on Aug. 4, 1933, in Francesville, to the late Herman W. Kruger and Matha C. (Popp) Kruger. She graduated from Francesville High School. Dorothy was a retired presser having spent her life working for several dry cleaning companies.

In her younger years, Dorothy was an active member of Pulaski County 4-H and the Rural Youth Club. She was confirmed at St. James Church and was a longtime member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Lafayette. Dorothy dedicated her life to compiling her family’s genealogy. 

Dorothy was a loving sister and aunt. She will be sadly missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sycamore Village for their kindness and care.

She is survived by her sisters: Martha Mae Williams of Columbia City, and Della Kruse of Adrian, Michigan; sister-in-law Trelma Kruger of Kokomo; 14 nieces and nephews; 24 great-nieces and nephews; 15 great-great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents: Herman W. Kruger and Matha C. (Popp) Kruger; brothers: Paul [Trellie] Kruger and Max Kruger; and brother-in-laws: Lloyd Williams and Ronald Kruse. 

Private services were held at St. James Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville. Rev. Nelda Seger officiated. Private burial took place at St. James Salem Cemetery in Francesville. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Church of Christ or St. James Salem United Church of Christ or genealogy department of Pulaski County Public Library.
