Donald D. “Skip” Tiede

Donald D. “Skip” Tiede, 76, of Francesville, passed away at 1:28 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. 

Skip was born on April 16, 1941, in Rensselaer, to the late Donald V. and Marian R. (Ringen) Tiede. He married Becky Goble on June 9, 1963, in Winamac. She survives.

He was retired from the Pulaski County Highway Department and had formerly worked for FTC Inc. 

Skip was a member of the Francesville First Christian Church as well as the Francesville Volunteer Fire Department for more than 30 years where he had formerly served as fire chief. Skip was also a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association. 

Skip enjoyed mushroom hunting and puttering around Francesville in his pickup. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The true joy in his life was his family. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his wife Becky (Goble) Tiede of Francesville; daughters: Bonnie [Dan] Koebcke of Francesville, Connie [Kevin] Wuethrich of Francesville, and Carrie Tiede of Francesville; granddaughters: Amber [Bart] Leman, Alyssa [Justin] Delph, Kara [Jason] Bohlinger, Kristy [Jason] Carlile, and Kaitlyn [Jake] Podell; grandson Dakota Tiede; great-grandchildren: Kyra, Ryder, Eli, Avery, Tenley, Taylor, Allie, Sophia, Simon, Taelyn, Parker and Lanie; sisters: Ruth Ann Bishop of Lafayette, and Linda K. Rusk of Francesville; sister-in-law Janelle Tiede of Francesville; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Donald V. and Marian R. (Ringen) Tiede; daughter Abby Lynne Tiede; and brothers: Jerry Joe Tiede, Billy D. Tiede and Glenn A. Tiede. 

Visitation was from 2- 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. Indiana Volunteer Fire Association services were at 6 p.m. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. Pastor James Ketchen officiated. Burial took place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Francesville Volunteer Fire Department or Francesville First Christian Church Youth Group.
