Dick E. Conner
Dick E. Conner, 75, of Star City, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Regency Hospital in Portage.
He was born on April 2, 1941, in Winamac, to the late Marion and Violet (Rinebarger) Conner. He was a 1959 graduate of Winamac High School. Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. On April 4, 1970, Dick married Ruth Ann Lutes in Royal Center. She survives.
Dick was born, raised, and lived his entire life at the family home place in rural Star City. He was a lifelong farmer and also was a parts driver for Rife Heavy Duty. He enjoyed helping with the county fair, especially the tractor pull. Dick also enjoyed gardening.
Dick was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Winamac.
Dick loved his family very much, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was looking forward to the birth of his sixth great-grandchild.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann (Lutes) Conner of Star City; daughter Kimberly Conner-Back of Allen, Oklahoma; sons: Bryan [Marla] Conner of Star City, and Andy Conner of Star City; grandchildren: Robbie, Devin, Tiffany, Kaiti, Dakota, Brandon, Beau, Drew, Jade, and Samantha; great-grandchildren: Jada, Aureah, Brantley, Justice, and Caleb; brother Howard J. [Janice] Conner of Winamac; mother-in-law Ruth Lutes of Star City; and sister-in-law Judy [Gary] Klaklamp of Logansport.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marion G. and Violet M. (Rinebarger) Conner; and father-in-law James B. Lutes.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with Rev. Laura Bailey officiating. Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac, with Rev. Bert Woolson officiating. The American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services.
