Diana L. Donathen

Jan. 15, 1952 — Oct. 26, 2015

Diana L. Donathen, 63, of Grass Creek, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 26, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born on Jan. 15, 1952, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late David and Doris (Brown) Hill.

She was a 1970 Caston High School graduate and a graduate of Indiana Central College (University of Indianapolis).

On Nov. 5, 1983, she married Jon C. Donathen.

Diana was a former school teacher who had taught in Kansas and at Kewanna and Rochester schools. She was a former magazine distributor and she was formerly employed at Kauffman Engineering in Logansport.

She was a member of Grass Creek United Methodist Church. Diana was very active with the Boy Scouts of America where she served as a den mother and assistant Scoutmaster. She also worked on the Sagamore Council and as an advisor and vigil in the Order of the Arrow.

Diana loved the theater and had been a member of several performance groups that toured the United States and Europe. She was also a member of the Fulton County Players and that is where she met her husband Jon.

She enjoyed reading, horses and classic movies.

Survivors include her husband Jon C. Donathen of Grass Creek; sons: Matthew J. Donathen of Grass Creek, and Alexander [Jennifer] W. Donathen of Logansport; soon-to-be-born granddaughter Astraea Diana Donathen; siblings: David [Marcia] J. Huffman of Indianapolis, Carol S. Huffman of Logansport and Roger [Dena] E. Hill of Afton, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Larry [Joyce] Donathen of Franklin; and sister-in-law Susan [Kenneth] Hamman of Winamac.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Oct. 31, at Grass Creek United Methodist Church. Services followed at 2 p.m. Pastor David Sommers officiated. Diana’s wishes were to be cremated and burial will be at Grass Creek Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America and/or Grass Creek United Methodist Church.
