Delores J. Dobson

April 16, 1939 — May 9, 2024

Delores Jean Dobson, 85, of Winamac, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 9. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. 

Jean was born on April 16, 1939, in Royalton, Kentucky to the late James and Ellar (Stepp) Howard. On Dec. 18, 1954, she married the love of her life, James G. Dobson. They were the proud parents of four children, Bill, Don, Brenda and Steve. Jean and Jim shared a love for gospel music. They enjoyed hosting/entertaining friends and family. Jim passed away on Aug. 10, 2010, after 55 years of marriage.

Jean was a member of the Wheatfield Pentecostal Church. She lived to serve the Lord and did so quietly and humbly. Jean was a proud homemaker who loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Throughout the years, she enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards. Most of all, Jean enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by sons: Bill [Kris] Dobson, Washington, Don [Deb] Dobson, Winamac and Steve [Michelle] Dobson, Winamac; daughter Brenda [Joe] Krulik, Winamac; grandsons: Billy [Kayla] Dobson, Jr., Brent [Ashley] Dobson, Christopher Wampler, Matthew [Ashley] Bell, Travis [Melony] Dobson, Brad Dobson, Shawn Krulik, Trenton [Morgan] Krulik and Spencer [Darian] Dobson; granddaughters: Alyssa [Aaron] Rice, Chantel [Breighton] Tolliver, Heather [Brian] Sanders and Lacie [Tyler] Gutwein; great-granddaughters: Shelby Dobson, Aubrie Dobson, Lyla Dobson, Aleaha Rice, Adalyn Rice, Sloane Wampler, Posey Bell, Taylor Sanders, Kailey Sanders, Michaela [Kaleb] Pierce, Emma Dobson, Josie Dobson, Addie Dobson, Macy Mullaney, Fallon Krulik, Danica Krulik, Piper Gutwein, Finley Gutwein, Haislee Dobson and Haddie Dobson; great-grandsons: Colton Dobson, Jett Dobson, Easton Dobson, Beckett Dobson, Kowen Tolliver, Jaxson Wampler, Andrew Jiminez, Matthew Jiminez, Nathan Jiminez and Kelso Krulik; great-great grandsons: Briggs Pierce and Truett Pierce; sister Alanna [Eugene] Ralph; sisters-in-law Gail Howard and Gladys Stonebraker; brother-in-law William [Diane] Dobson; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Preceded in death by parents: James and Ellar (Stepp) Howard; husband James G. “Jim” Dobson; grandson Joseph John “Joey” Krulik, Jr.; one infant sister; sisters: Vera Mae Wireman and Charlotte Gilliam; and brothers: Jack Howard, Paul Howard, James Burn “J.B.” Howard and Ray Howard.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – noon, Wednesday, May 15, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac.

Services will be held at noon Wednesday, May 15, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Thurman Ritchie officiating.

Burial will take place at Idle Cemetery in Francesville.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the Jim Dobson Memorial  Fund (through the Community Foundation of Pulaski County).
