David B. Luttrell Sr.

Oct. 25, 1950 — May 27, 2018

David B. Luttrell Sr., 67, of Austin, formerly of Winamac, passed away Sunday, May 27, at his home, surrounded by his family. 

He was born on Oct. 25, 1950, to the late Rastus and Donna (Losh) Luttrell. On Sept. 10, 2004, he married Paula Kay Johnson. She preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 2017.

David was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid fisherman, camper, and hunter. He loved all sports, including NASCAR, his favorite driver being Jimmy Johnson. He also loved the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs. David loved playing cards with his family and friends, cooking, and spending time working in his garden.

David is survived by three sons: Joshua D. Luttrell of Louisville, Kentucky, Nicholas K. Luttrell of Portland, Oregon, and David B. Jr. [Wendy] Luttrell of Winamac; daughters: Brandy K. [Paul Sherwood] Luttrell of Muncie, and Valdora S. [Jonathan] Greene of Middletown; grandchildren: Madison Luttrell, Kacey Luttrell, Ashton Haskins, Liam Haskins, Tyler Greene, Austin Greene, Aariyanna Luttrell, Zavier Luttrell and Lylah Luttrell; sisters: Sandy Schultz, Grace Carter, and Lou [Albert] Cooper; nieces and nephews: Randy [Kristin] Hughes, Jessica [Harold Chinn] Hand, Eric [Tiffiny] Carter, Frankie [Bob Brehm] Carter, Bryan Carter and Donna Marie Luttrell.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Randall Luttrell; nephews: Scotty Hughes and Edwin Reed; and niece Terra Dyer.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, from 10 a.m. until noon CDT at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 31, at noon CDT at Steinke Funeral Home of Rensselaer with Rev. Brent Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Koster Cemetery.
