Darlene L. Granato
Darlene L. Granato, 72, of Winamac, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born on April 5, 1947, in Washington County, Pennsylvania, to the late Dewey H. and Betty S. (Martin) Chalfant. On Dec. 16, 1964, Darlene married Ronald E. Granato in Crown Point. He passed away on May 31, 2019.
Darlene was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time on the Tippecanoe River. She enjoyed birdwatching, gardening, ceramics and shopping at Kohl’s. She was an avid “garage-saler” and enjoyed finding a good bargain. Darlene was fond of her dog Sebastian.
Darlene was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where she had many cherished friendships. Most of all she loved her family very much and especially enjoyed spending time with her three sons and playing cards with her granddaughter Lexi. Darlene will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her sons: Todd C. [Stephanie] Granato of North Judson and Brian S. [Kimberly] Granato of Wheatfield; daughter-in-law Janet Granato of North Judson; granddaughters: Kayleigh Granato of Portage, Paige [Tyler] Gilliam of Kodak, Tennessee, and Alexis Granato of Crown Point; grandson Dylan Granato of Cabin Creek, West Virginia; brother Chad [Liz] Chalfant of Portage; sisters: Janet Chalfant of Fayette City, Pennsylvania, Denise [Tom] Fafalios of Fayette City, Pennsylvania, and Aggie [Shaune] Krajzel of Fayette City, Pennsylvania; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dewey H. and Betty S. (Martin) Chalfant; husband Ronald E. Granato; son Chad E. Granato; and sister Jean Chalfant.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with John DeSabatine officiating.
