Clara Ellen Viktora

Clara Ellen Viktora, 86, of Winamac, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac. 

Clara was born on Aug. 7, 1933, in Francesville, to the late Carl and Tena (Kruger) Garling. Clara was a 1951 graduate of Francesville High School. On April 11, 1953, Clara married the late Anthony F. “Tony” Viktora. Tony died on Aug. 22, 2015.

Clara was a member of the St. James Salem United Church of Christ, the ladies guild of the church and was a Sunday school teacher.

Clara enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. Being home with her family and teaching them how to make the perfect pie crust or homemade Christmas gifts is what made Clara the happiest.

She is survived by her daughter Pam [Darl Holbrook] Viktora of Francesville; son Kevin [Jeanna Nesius] Viktora of Francesville; granddaughters: Sarah Viktora and Zoe Viktora; sister Bertha [Jim] Rose of North Judson; brother Leonard “Sonny” [Evelyn] Garling of Francesville; and brother-in-law Charles Rose of Winamac. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Tena (Kruger) Garling; husband Anthony F. “Tony” Viktora; and sisters: Berniece Rose and Louise Dommer. 

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at St. James Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville. Rev. Judith Doll officiated. Burial took place at St. James Salem Cemetery in Francesville.
