Cathy L. Schmicker

April 23, 1950 — Jan. 12, 2016

Cathy L. Fahler Schmicker, 65, of Medaryville, (formerly of Star City and Winamac) passed away at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at her home with her family by her side. 

Cathy was born on April 23, 1950, in Winamac to the late Richard and Ida Fahler. 

She attended Star City Schools and graduated from Winamac High School in 1968. She also had attended Ball State University. 

Cathy had lived in Nashville, Tennessee, and Atlanta, Georgia, before returning to Indiana in 2008. She had worked as a certified medical assistant.

Cathy was a very devoted Catholic. 

She was a former vice chairwoman of the Pulaski County Republican Central Committee.

Cathy was an avid IU basketball and Indianapolis Colts fan. She enjoyed quilting and playing golf. She also enjoyed being on social media and playing games with her friends. Most of all, Cathy loved her family very much, especially spending time with her grandchildren. 

Cathy will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughter Lori Schultz of Medaryville; son Kevin [Christan] Schultz of Medaryville; granddaughters: Riley Schultz, Maddison Schultz, and Sadie Ruth Schultz; grandsons: Mason Schultz and Eli Smith; stepgranddaughters: Peyton Beiswanger and Paige Beiswanger; stepgrandson Daniel Beiswanger; companion Scott Flickner of Atlanta, Georgia; cousin Timothy Miller of Lakeside Park, Kentucky; and friend Bob Schultz of Medaryville. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard E. “Dick” and Ida Ruth (Miller) Fahler; and brother Charles R. “Chuck” Fahler. 

Visitation was 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Frain Mortuary. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Frain Mortuary, Winamac. Rev. Terry Bennis officiated. Burial took place in Star City West Cemetery, Star City.
