Carroll J. Messer

Carroll J. Messer, 83, of Francesville, went home to be with the Lord at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville. 

He was born on April 10, 1931, in Peoria, Illinois, to the late Paul and Nathalia (Stoller) Messer.

Carroll married Annabelle Yaggie on Oct. 22, 1958, in Francesville.

He lived most of his life in Francesville and was a former resident of southern California.

He had been a school bus driver for the Bear Valley Unified School District in Big Bear Lake, California,  retiring after 17 years. He also was a bulk gas delivery driver in California.

Carroll was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Francesville.

He served as a medic in the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his wife Annabelle L. Messer of Francesville; son Michael [Dawn] Messer of Crescent City, California; granddaughters: Felicia [Nicholas] Brock of Simi Valley, California, and Kayla Messer of Chico, California; great-granddaughter Laney Brock of Simi Valley, California; brother Paul Messer Jr. of Big Bear City, California; and niece Paula DeLay of Big Bear City, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Nathalia (Stoller) Messer; and brother Maurice Messer.  

Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville and one hour prior to services at the church Tuesday. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Francesville. Ministers of the church officiated. Burial took place in Roseland Cemetery in Francesville.

Memorial contributions may be given to Parkview Haven Retirement Home.
