Betty Louise Wheeldon

Sept. 10, 1929 — Nov. 11, 2018

Betty Louise Wheeldon, 89, of Monticello, a lifelong resident of Monon, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 11. 

She was born on Sept. 10, 1929, in Monon, to the late Paul D. and Mary G. (Goble) Cooley. Betty graduated from Monon High School. On Feb. 18, 1950, she married Charles K. Wheeldon in Monticello. He preceded her in death on March 20, 1993. 

Betty was a longtime member of the Monon United Methodist Church. In her younger years, she worked together with her husband Charles volunteering for the Boy Scouts. Betty was a talented seamstress, artist and baker. She was well-known for her pies, especially at the Monon Gun Club. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son Charles Dennis [Sandy] Wheeldon of Lafayette; daughter Doreen Louise [Gary] Gudeman of Medaryville; granddaughters: Megan [fiance Adam Sandlin] Wheeldon and Lauren [Evan] Haupert; grandsons: Jared [Loren] Gudeman, Philip Gudeman and Jonathan Gudeman; great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Titus, Eden and Ada; sister Barbara [Marvin] Olson of Rensselaer; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Paul D. and Mary G. (Goble) Cooley; husband Charles K. Wheeldon; and son Paul Jeffery Wheeldon. 

Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday; Nov. 14, at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville, with Pastor Tom Hopewell officiating. Burial will take place at Bedford Cemetery in Monon.
