She enjoyed painting, walking/biking and serving as the head of the nursery department at Ft. Myers First Church of the Nazarene for 17 years. When Dan and Betty moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2011, they joined the Agape Class at Trevecca Community Church.

Her parents Thomas Reed, Opal and stepfather Murney Conley, precede Betty in death along with her sisters: Bonnie and Ruth. Dan and Betty lost two children: Lynette Vandawater and Richard “Rich” Neff, along with a son-in-law Lee Vandawater and grandson Aaron Jachim.

Her sons: Thomas Neff of Lehigh Acres, Florida, John [Terri] Neff of Winamac, and Randy (Lucinda) Neff of Brentwood survive.
