Algot “Al” Olson

Aug. 31, 1935 — April 13, 2016

Algot “Al” Olson, 80, of Francesville, passed into the loving arms of Jesus, holding the hand of his beloved wife, Virginia, on April 13, at Allisonville Meadows in Indianapolis. 

Algot was born on Aug. 31, 1935, in Kouts, to Louie and Agnes Olson.  

Al grew up in Kouts and graduated from Kouts High School in 1953. After high school, he attended Bible college at Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln, Illinois, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in preaching. He started Francesville Tire Company in the early 1960s and Blue Sea Blueberries in the early 1970s.  He grew and sold landscape trees for more than 30 years and Blue Sea Blueberries through the 2015 season.

Algot married Virginia Logan in 1958 in Tuscola, Illinois. They were happily married for 57 years. Al was a member of Medaryville Christian Church, where he served in various capacities for more than 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, his kids, his grandkids and great-grandkids, as well as gardening, receiving certification in the Master Gardeners program of Indiana. 

Al is survived by his wife Virginia; daughters: Dawn [Randy] Miller of Middlebury, and Alicia [Marc] McClure of Indianapolis; son Eric [Traci] Olson of Abingdon, Maryland; sister Lillian Dedman; brother Glenn [Tina] Olson; grandchildren Erica [James], Zachary [Emiline], Hannah, Alexis, Brianna, Olivia, Karisse, Carli, Christian, and Kyle; great-grandchildren: Doris, Nathanael, Josiah, and Ruth; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Al was preceded in death by his parents Louie and Agnes; and siblings: Edna, Agnes and Harold. 

The family greeted friends and relatives prior to the funeral service on Sunday, April 17, beginning at 1 p.m. at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel, 230 S. Brooks St., Francesville, Indiana, 47946.  A funeral service followed at 2:30 p.m. Burial took place at Roseland Cemetery.
