Town cleanup includes trash, abandoned vehicles and dogs

Francesville is conducting some spring cleaning including abandoned vehicles, trash and stray pets.
During a regular meeting on April 4, councilwoman Pam Antrim questioned how much the current dog ordinance addresses. She recently received a complaint regarding dogs roaming the neighborhood and causing messes.
President Andy Durham said the town follows the Indiana leash law that dogs are to be under the control of their owners and “in that instance they are not under control.”
Town marshal Doug Lee said the county animal control officer has been in town a few times this week. He advised that if the dogs are seen again they should contact animal control through the sheriff’s office.
Antrim also asked if the town has a noise ordinance because of a complaint regarding loud music and motorcycles late at night.
Lee said when these things happen that residents can call the sheriff’s office for assistance. Either he will be dispatched or a county officer will respond if they are available.
During the department reports portion of the meeting, Lee said he is working with residents to clean up trash in their yards per the town ordinance. He has spoken with a few regarding their messes.
He is also tagging vehicles and he will have them removed when the ground is a little harder. Lee said the removing of the vehicles is a cost to the vehicle owner not the town.
