The Conn family has attended the annual Snowball Auction and Golf Scramble since 1993. Chris Short said each year it is in memory of her son Jason.

Recipients of charity fund give back

Golfers in snow boots, scarves and gloves were also adorned with smiles and laughs as they tried their skills during the 30th annual Snowball Golf Scramble on Sunday.
Approximately 100 golfers, who made up 19 teams, took the nine-hole course with a laid-back ease as they waited to play the next hole at Pond View Golf Course, south of Star City. The golfers didn’t appear to be in a hurry as they enjoyed the sun and the annual fundraiser that benefits the Lilly Charity Snowball Fund.
The event includes an auction, raffle, golf and hole sponsors. Steven Bonnell, who has organized the event the last 30 years, said the number of golfers is about average  this year and the event will hopefully raise about $20,000.
The event is also a time when memories can be shared for those who have attended the event the last several years such as the Conn family. The Conn family not only gives back to the event but at one time they benefited from it.
