Pulaski County deputy injured in pursuit

A Pulaski County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured while in pursuit of a subject Monday afternoon.
At the time of the Pulaski County Commissioners’ meeting, Monday night, Pulaski County Sheriff Jeff Richwine said the deputy was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
The accidental dog bite came from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office K-9, who was there to help with the pursuit of a 43-year-old Ora man who was riding an all-terrain vehicle and later ditched it in a boggy area before leaving on foot in the area of CR 100 W. and CR 600 N. around 4:30 p.m.
Police later located James Hurt at a residence in Starke County. Hurt was arrested for resisting law enforcement.
The investigation continues and additional charges are expected.
