Francesville mulling over convenience of gas tank

Francesville Town Council members have been discussing whether a gas tank used only by the town would be worth the cost.
At the March 21 council meeting, street superintendent Brad Stevens and water superintendent Greg Stone discussed with the council the costs of a tank and if it would be beneficial. It was estimated to cost about $1,600 for a 300-gallon tank and about $1,800 for a 500-gallon tank. That cost does not include a gas pump that could cost about $600.
Council president Andy Durham questioned whether the town should continue looking into the idea.
Stevens said having a gas tank available 24 hours is one of the advantages to having a tank on town property.
The only gas station that is open for 24 hours in the area is Casey’s in Monon.
Durham said Casey’s isn’t too far a drive and as long as there is a 24-hour facility, the town should be OK.
No further discussion was held regarding the gas tank.
