Chuck and Darlene Mellon

Francesville couple named Halleck award recipient

It’s a team effort of giving for the 2016 Halleck Community Service Award recipients — Chuck and Darlene Mellon.
The Francesville couple were recently named as the Halleck award winners by the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce.
Chuck and Darlene were nominated for the award not only because of their outpouring of time and effort to the community but also because they are “compassionate people,” who are often seen doing the thankless jobs such as cleaning the streets after the Francesville Fall Festival.
The award was established in 1979, and the inaugural award was presented to Winamac physician and surgeon and community leader H.J. Halleck. Halleck not only served the community as a physician for many years but was also a political and civic leader. The annual award is given to a Pulaski County resident who has demonstrated outstanding community service.
The date for the Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce annual meeting and Halleck awards banquet has not been scheduled at this time.
