County election board addresses the ‘what ifs’

Pulaski County Election Board members are preparing for the “what ifs,” if they should occur on the election days.
On Monday, the board spoke with Pulaski County Sheriff Jeff Richwine and Pulaski County EMA Director Sheri Gaillard regarding memorandums of understanding.
Election board president Jon Frain said the county can’t plan for all the “what ifs” but they can work closely with emergency responders and management in case something should go wrong.
The board has already taken into consideration what they will do if there is a technical problem such as issues  with the Internet or polling pads. Frain said they also have plans if an electric outage occurs.
Frain said he invited Gaillard to the meeting because there may be a possibility that one of the voting centers would need a generator. He said the board has a couple options but they want to ensure many options are available.
The reason for asking Richwine to the meeting is because the board is asking if they could use the sheriff’s office hot spots. Frain said if the worst happens, they would need at least one machine working.
Richwine and Gaillard didn’t see a problem with the generators and using the hot spots.
The board will now approach the commissioners in regards to the memorandums of understanding with the county commissioners, the town of Francesville and the town of Monterey.
