The Hopkins sisters, youngest to oldest, Tammy Huskins, Laura Cosgray, Deb Bosak, Connie Ingram and Karen Scheffer had a once-in-a-lifetime adventure as they were Family Feud contestants who met game show host Steve Harvey. The show airs on Feb. 1.

Competitors stood little chance against the Hopkins sisters

The Family Feud didn’t see it coming as the Hopkins sisters took the stage last year.
They were on a mission. Not to win, but to have fun and check an item off their bucket lists.
The sisters, oldest to youngest, Karen [Fred] Scheffer, of Winamac; Connie [Mark] Ingram, of Winamac; Deb [Greg] Bosak, of Schererville; Laura [Sam] Cosgray, of Royal Center; and Tammy [Steve] Huskins, of Rochester, may all live in different areas of the state but that distance doesn’t keep them apart.
That bond grew a little stronger when one of them lost a child in 2014. Connie said at that point, they knew one of the best ways they could make it through those struggles was by doing it together.
As the ideas rolled, one of the sisters came up with the inspiration of being on national TV. They then thought about what they could do to be on TV and being on the Family Feud became their mission. The idea was that the Family Feud would include all five of them at the same time and they wouldn’t have to break the law or cause a riot to get national attention.
Because the ladies were on a mission, they practiced at their parents’ house which was the central location. They would get together and figure out how they wanted to proceed.
“We continued believing and practicing before we were ever contacted,” Connie said. “We worked like it was our job. We all worked together so we could do the very best that we could.”
The sisters are the daughters of Harold and Thelma Hopkins.
When the ladies arrived in Atlanta there were 12 families hoping to advance that day and be a part of the selection process. Connie said they befriended a lot of the competitors.
According to Connie, the sisters reminded game show host Steve Harvey of how beautiful life was to be just a normal person. “The staff, Steve Harvey were fabulous.
The adventure did what the sisters had hoped. It was everything they expected and more.
Due to gag rules, Connie said her family members know very little of how the sisters fared.
The ladies were recently invited to compete against the staff of WISH-TV on Feb. 1 to help promote the show that airs the same day. Connie said they are quite excited.
The show will air on Feb. 1 on cable channel 12, and Dish-TV channel 57. The show will re-air on Valentine’s Day weekend.
