Commissioners look to clean up abandoned vehicles

Abandoned vehicles became the topic of the Pulaski County Commissioners during a regular meeting on July 5.
Commissioner Larry Brady requested that the county look into creating an abandoned vehicle ordinance.
Commissioner Terry Young said there was one started several years ago but it didn’t get passed. Young has been told that when the price of metal goes down, junk in people’s yards collects.
Commissioner Bud Krohn Jr. said he has some concerns with the ordinance. There are vehicles in the county that sit for months because they are used for farm equipment.
Young said that’s not an abandoned vehicle.
A clarification was made that an abandoned vehicle is one that isn’t working.
Brady said the county can look into the wording to address farm equipment.
Brady also asked about an irrigation equipment ordinance. There have been recent complaints of water hitting vehicles from the irrigation equipment.
Young said he doesn’t want to stop farmers from using their equipment but he doesn’t want anyone getting hurt because water is spraying on the roadways.
Tankersley said if the commissioners want he can take a look into it. He said he would send what was written  in the past to the commissioners.
